One of our largest forest canopy trees with an open habit.
Puriri occurs naturally throughout the North Island from the coast to lowland forest.
It has dark glossy green leaves and pinkish red flowers are produced throughout most of the year, followed by bright red berries.
The Puriri is host to the Puriri moth.
