Carex dissita is an attractive colonising flat-leaved green sedge found throughout New Zealand in forest, scrub and swampy areas.

It has almost black seed heads which is an attractive feature of this Carex species.
Purei doesn't have a creeping rhizome.

It is excellent native plant to use in shaded situations under native trees and shrubs.

Carex dissita is often confused with Carex lambertiana ,Carex solandri and Uncinia uncinata.
All of these species are often found naturally growing together in similar situations in Auckland.
