Apodasmia similis

Leptocarpus similis, Jointed wire rush, Oioi
A reed with a fine grey-green leaves with brownish bracts at the joints, forming a large densely erect clump.
It spreads from a creeping rhizome but is slow spreading.
It is dioecious- having male and female flowers on separate plants
It is found throughout New Zealand in coastal marshlands and estuaries.
Formerly the botanical name of this plant was Leptocarpus similis
Although considered a wetland species, Oioi will grow in normal conditions.
