Muehlenbeckia astonii

A coastal divaricating shrub with wiry interlacing habit.

Muehlenbeckia astonii has small bright green heart shaped leaves and is a deciduous plant in winter.

It is naturally found in Wellington and east coast of South Island to Banks Peninsula.

It is very hardy tolerating quite dry conditions and wind.

Muehlenbeckia astonii makes an interesting contrast plant. Makes a good hedge also.
