Metrosideros perforata is a root climber or compact shrub.
It has small compact leaves and masses of white flowers in mid Summer.
Flowers are very attractive to bumble bees.
Metrosideros perforata will climb tree trunks or cliffs and where there is no support they will form a compact shrub.
When it is cutting grown from adult foliage plants, the resulting plant forms a shrub rather than a climber. Likewise plants propagated from seed will form a climber.
Despite is suitability to use in amenity planting and attractive white flowers,
Metrosideros perforata is still under utilised in the industry.
