A hebe found throughout the North Island with long pale green leaves and long white spike flowers in Summer.
It is a common Hebe naturally found in the Auckland Ecological Region.
The koromiko is a fast growing shrub, easily established and prefers open habitats, on the edge of bush and wetlands.
The koromiko does not tolerate shade.
It will not grow under kauris
It is a pioneer plant useful to plant as a nurse crop for revegetation planting.
Recently
Hebe stricta has been reclassified and the botanical name has changed to
Veronica stricta.
