A native divaricating shrub with a very dense habit and tangled appearance.
The interlacing branches are golden coloured and the leaves very small.
The yellow flowers but smaller and fewer than in the other species of kowhai.
Sophora prostrata is found naturally in the South Island from Marlborough to Canterbury
It is slow growing and with its interesting form, makes an excellent container plant.
