A native fern with glossy dark green arching fronds, common in forests throughout New Zealand. This is one of the most popular native ferns.
Unfortunately most plants sold as this species are not even native to New Zealand but rather a hybrid Asplenium x lucrosum with a Norfolk Island species Asplenium dimorplum.
The true NZ native Hen & chicken fern is much slower to grow
The mature fronds have small bulbils which form new plants.
Protect from slugs and snails
