Blechnum parrisae syn. Doodia australis

Pukupuku, syn Doodia australis and syn. Doodia media

It is a common fern of coastal open sites or light scrub.

It is also called the rasp fern because its fronds are somewhat harsh to touch.
New fronds are reddish pink while old fronds are dark green.

Doodia australis or Doodia media  has been renamed again to Blechnum parrisae in mid 2017

It has better foliage color in full sun.

It is a fairly hardy low growing fern that form clumps.

  • Does equally well in full sun or light shade
