Metrosideros carminea is a root climber or shrub with beautiful crimson red flowers in Spring.
Metrosideros carminea will climb tree trunks or cliffs and where there is no support they will form a shrub.
When it is cutting grown from adult foliage plants, the resulting plant forms a shrub rather than a climber. Likewise plants propagated from seed will form a climber.
