The best known of the native clematis and it is found in forest and bush throughout New Zealand. 
It is the most vigorous of the native clematis but it is difficult to establish.

It is an evergreen climber and has masses of white flowers in Spring and feathery seed heads.

It bears male and female flowers on separate plants.
Male plants are selected for sale because of their larger and more prolific flowering.

Ensure its roots are shaded.
