Carex maorica is a common sedge in Auckland found nearly always in standing water.
It resembles Carex lessoniana both in size and habitat but lacks creeping rhizomes.
Carex maorica can be used in areas similar to Carex lessioniana but will not tolerate moving water. Best in permanent water areas and normally in full sun.
