Hangehange is a common bushy fast growing native shrub found in coastal and lowland forest throughout the North Island and in Marlborough.

The genus name has been changed from Geniostoma rupestre.
It has shiny pointed oval leaves and tiny greenish white flowers in Spring, and black seed capsules late Summer.

It is a forest diversity plant which means - to be planted when pioneer species have established or added beneath the existing canopy.
